According to Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger, restrictions on Czechs' employment in Austria will end on May 1, 2011. He annoinsed this after a meeting with his Czech counterpart Jan Kohout
The minister announced that his country prepared for the full opening of its labour market to the Czechs Austria among the countries with the lowest unemployment rate in the European Union. As several new Central and Eastern European countries joined the EU in May 2004, a long-term effect on the job market is expected as highly qualified personnel will be able to access the Austrian job market. However, bilateral agreements limit the options for the citizens of the new EU members. |
