The Czech Office for Personal Data Protection has launched a probe of an alleged breach of privacy protection regulations in the Czech Republic by Google Inc. Google faces investigations for breaching privacy laws in Germany as well as five other European countries. The complaint against Google in Hamburg was brought by German lawyer Jens Ferner. "I want to ensure that the legal implications of 'Google and Wi-Fi' will be probed immediately," said Ferner in a blog post.Google collected data from unsecured wireless networks as part of Street View, its photo-mapping service. European countries require to disclose exactly what its employees collected in 33 countries while compiling Street View. Google said that in statement, it had received the multiple requests to retain the Wi-Fi data. According to statement, privacy officials in Denmark and Austria, by contrast, had joined Ireland, in asking the search engine to destroy data collected in their countries. |
