Czech parties negotiating the formation of a coalition government agreed to delay setting a target date for euro adoption. The Civic Democratic Party, TOP09 and Public Affairs are in talks to form a Cabinet after winning a combined majority in elections last month
The parties “are currently not setting a date for euro adoption,” Public Affairs said in a statement on its website today. "We agreed not to state the euro entry date for now. The condition for setting such date in the future is that the Maastricht criteria will be observed in the eurozone itself," - Reuters was citing cited Viktor Paggio, a member of one of the negotiating teams. Petr Necas, the Civic Democrat leader and the likely next prime minister, said prior to election that his party was against setting a euro target.
